About the author

Stephen Owen

Stephen Owen is a British author specialising in practical, evidence-based personal development. His voice combines more than fifteen years as a registered nurse in primary care with a background in graphic design and leadership, and a career spent helping people make the difficult, real-world kind of change: the kind that has to hold when motivation runs out and life refuses to cooperate.

Diagnosed with dyslexia, his approach to writing and teaching is deeply empathetic, shaped by his own experience of overcoming personal and professional obstacles. Throughout his healthcare career he has worked closely with people managing chronic conditions, supporting sustainable lifestyle change, and he has managed large-scale organisational transformation in healthcare governance.

His dedication to resilience is also personal. After experiencing burnout, he embarked on his own path of rediscovery, applying the principles he now shares with his readers. As a husband and father of two daughters, he understands the complexity of changing your life while actually living it.

From that experience came the SO What Works? series and the GROWTH by DESIGN methodology: psychology, behavioural science and real-world insight combined into practical frameworks for thriving through adversity. The first book, GROWTH by DESIGN: The Lemonade Revolution, launches on 1 September 2026.
